Clearly influenced by his roots, artist Eloy Zúñíga's paintings portray traditional characters and scenes from the Guanacaste region, created in a modernist style, and in some cases full abstraction. His canvas work is rich with textures, which are inspired by the bark of mango and jobo trees, in which scars and textures build up over time, giving them a lively appearance of strength.

Participation in worldwide solo and group exhibits since 1982, Zúñíga was born in Nicoya, Costa Rica. Although his college studies started in his chosen major of agronomy, Eloy later decided to solely focus on his greatest passion: painting. His studies included courses at the University of Costa Rica Fine Art and La Casa del Artista. Because of his love of the arts, Eloy has traveled to many art and culture centers within Europe and America, such as Paris, Madrid, Barcelona, Rome, Zurich, Florence, Venice, Miami and Caracas, where he also had many exhibits, including participation at the Coral Gables International Art Centers in Miami and Atlanta.
