After working in South America with the Peace Corps, Susana and her husband emigrated to Costa Rica in the late sixties. Finding a perfect cabin on a mountaintop near Santa Cruz, she loved the simplicity of the primitive lifestyle: traveling by horseback, no electricity, and spring water. She thought it was perfect for her, a girl raised in Oklahoma, U.S., with illusions of pioneer life. But it was after she moved to San Jose that she took up watercolor painting. Living in yet another mountaintop cabin above San Jose de La Montana, she painted landscapes and began to show her work in the city galleries.

Finally settling in Barrio Amon, she spent the next ten years traveling throughout Central America exhibiting her art.
Currently Susana travels between Costa Rica and the States, where she teaches art at a local college, and pursues her interest s of ceramics and watercolors. Her works are in numerous private and public collections. She has participated in numerous group and solo exhibitions throughout Central America and the United States.
